Lindencroft

Lindencroft provides intensive therapeutic support for youth who identify as female/female-of-center/transfeminine and have experienced or are at high risk for commercial sexual exploitation. With a 1:3 staff-to-youth ratio, our program offers a comprehensive continuum of trauma-informed services in a home-like environment.

We support youth through various transitions, including family reunification, adoption, pre-independent living, independent living, or aging out of the system, taking an individualized approach to ensure successful transitions into adulthood.

Our Approach

Lindencroft creates a stable, safe, and supportive home-like environment while helping youth learn to safely integrate into the community. We collaborate closely with My Life My Choice to continuously evaluate our policies, procedures, and practices through a Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) lens, ensuring we maintain best practices in supporting this vulnerable population.

Academics

We work collaboratively with the Berkley School Department to develop appropriate educational plans for each youth. Our educational support includes:

  • Placement in local neighborhood schools or day programs
  • Support for non-traditional education paths
  • A full-time case manager coordinating all educational services
  • In-house tutoring and MCAS preparation

Competency Development

Lindencroft supports youth in exploring their individual interests and building skills in safe, healthy ways:

  • Weekly individualized competency-building activities (dance lessons, self-defense classes, horseback riding, driver's education, etc.)
  • Occupational therapy support for finding employment and volunteer opportunities
  • Focus on developing individual sense of self and building confidence

Wellness

Our wellness program promotes positive choices, growth, and healthy living through:

  • Diverse engaging on-site activities
  • Memberships at local clubs and leagues for recreation, exercise, and team sports
  • Focus on nutrition through growing, purchasing, preparing, and eating healthy foods
  • Trauma-informed weight lifting

Clinical Support

Our comprehensive clinical framework includes:

  • Natural consequences system guided by the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) framework
  • Structured community integration to develop appropriate social interactions
  • Daily staff support for life skills development and building positive relationships
  • Individual therapy, occupational therapy, family therapy, and specialized group therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Lindencroft's primary focus is on youth who identify as female who are either at high risk for Commercial and Sexual Exploitation (CSE) or have experienced CSE. The majority of female-identifying youth in DCF care are, by nature of the system, at higher risk than others for sex trafficking and exploitation.

As such, our programming has specific groups focused on CSE prevention and support for those who have already experienced CSE.

We do not provide our location for safety reasons. If you are interested in learning more about the program, please contact the program director. We are in a beautiful location and not far from several cities.

We know each youth we work with will have a different trajectory. Starting at intake, we begin making discharge plans. We get to know the youth, their strengths, and their skills.

Our goal is to ensure each youth leaves Lindencroft with the skills they will require to be successful regardless of whether they are transitioning to adult services, independent living, reunifying, going into foster care/adoption or going to college!
