Our Approach

We use a wraparound model that builds on the existing strengths and natural supports in the child’s life. Our goal is to help youth and families recognize their own capacities, find common ground, and build skills for healthy communication. This approach ensures that families can maintain unity while allowing youth to develop independence in safe and developmentally appropriate ways.

JRI Connecticut Community-Based Services specializes in trauma-informed treatment using the Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency (ARC) framework. This framework helps youth with traumatic histories develop self-regulation skills, increase interpersonal skills, and gain competency and independence.

Our in-home services are provided by a skilled team of trauma-informed clinicians and mentors who create detailed behavioral plans to help children and adolescents overcome challenging behaviors and successfully function both at home and in the community.

Individual and Family Therapy

Individual Therapy: Focuses on building self-regulation techniques used in the home and community and centers around developing competency.

Family Therapy: Often focuses on conflict resolution, building healthy communication skills, and creating structure and routine.

Parent/Caregiver Support

We provide therapy, coaching, advocacy, psycho-education, and case management to support parents and caregivers.

Case Management and Coordination

We offer case management and coordination services for youth and families receiving care through multiple pathways.

Psychiatry Services

Our team includes an APRN who provides psychiatry services to support mental health needs.

Specialized Approaches

JRI Connecticut's Community-Based Services (CBS) specializes in trauma-informed treatment using the ARC framework. This framework helps youth deal with traumatic histories, develop self-regulation skills, increase interpersonal skills, and gain competency and independence. The program also offers:

  • Comprehensive clinical skill-building with safety planning and risk management for families.
  • Crisis intervention services.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skill-building.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Motivational Interviewing.
  • Individual and family therapy.
  • Psychiatry services.
  • Additional Services

Therapeutic Mentoring

Therapeutic mentoring is provided in the home and community, matching youth with a mentor who can offer support and hands-on experiences for meeting individual goals. Mentors work on skills like self-regulation, life skills, physical health, and self-efficacy. Past mentoring activities have included exercise, employment assistance, social skills development, and crisis management.

Support for Risk Behaviors and Education Advocacy

We provide risk management and assessment, creative safety plans, and crisis intervention. Respite services are available in some cases.

We also offer education advocacy for students with disabilities and families seeking support in accessing appropriate plans and placements for their children.
