Anchor Academy Student Spotlight

Josh of Anchor Academy successfully joins Marines

When students enroll at Anchor Academy, we look well beyond their past difficulties and struggles, and we are able to give each student a fresh start. This past week, we were reminded of this aspect of our school after receiving a visit from one of our recent graduates.

When Josh enrolled in Anchor Academy, his ultimate goal was to join the Marines. This past year, Josh achieved that goal.

Throughout his journey at Anchor Academy, Josh demonstrated excellent academic, and social and emotional achievement, while simultaneously earning high honors. Josh’s outstanding leadership qualities were honored through leading a mentorship program within the school.

Upon graduating from Anchor Academy, Josh recently completed the Marine Corps Basic Training Camp and is currently awaiting his deployment. When he returned home for a short time, he reached out to Anchor Academy to express his gratitude to the staff for taking that chance on him when he first arrived at our school.

Not only did he want to thank the staff for taking a chance on him, he wanted to give back to the community that helped him get where he is today. Josh eagerly offered his support to other students enrolled at Anchor Academy.

Anchor Academy staff is extremely proud of Josh’s constant resiliency, strength and perseverance that he continues to demonstrate. Josh’s story represents the work that staff do each day to in order help students become responsible citizens, achieve their goals, and reach their dreams.

Josh, thank you so very much for your service, and we look forward to working with you in the future as an alumni of Anchor Academy.
