Career Pathways is a program of STRIVE Boston that includes pre-employment professional development training followed by training with one of our partners in the opportunity of your choice and a job placement.

National Grid Opportunity

4-week pre-employment training at STRIVE followed by a 4- week earn-while-you-learn training in the position of interest at National Grid. Upon completing hands-on training successfully, the temporary position becomes permanent.

  • Starting pay rate: $ 24 per/hour

Schedule

Pre-Employment Training with STRIVE Boston

Monday to Friday from 10 -11:30am staring January 6, 2025

Hands-on Training with National Grid

Monday to Friday from 9am – 2pm staring February 2025

Program Eligibility

  • Be able to read, speak and write in English
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Be able to commit to 4 weeks of pre-employment training with STRIVE Boston
  • Be able to commit to 4 weeks of training onsite with National Grid
  • Clean criminal background check (No violent crimes or SORI)
  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent required • Must be 18+ years old
  • Must reside in the Greater Boston area
  • Successfully pass a full drug screening (including marijuana)
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, problem solve and apply critical thinking skills

Do you have a question about JRI services?

Rachel has been a part of the JRI team since January, 2000. For over 20 years, Rachel has been working in the field of human services assisting families with accessing and navigating services. Rachel received her Bachelors degree in psychology and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Bridgewater State University. She was promoted in July 2005 to Family Networks Program Director where she closely worked with the Department of Children Families for 10 years ensuring that children and families received the highest quality of individualized services ranging from community based through residential care. Rachel is very dedicated to helping the individuals she works with and is committed to improving the lives of children and families. Rachel’s passion for creative service programming inspires her in her role as JRI Service Navigator.
