Andy Pond receives Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters

Andy Pond has served as President & CEO of the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) since 2006. He first joined JRI in 1985, having earned a master’s degree in teaching from SUNY Cortland and his bachelor’s degree in English from UMass Amherst.  He earned a master's degree in social work while honing his skills as a leader at JRI, and focused his early career on adolescents suffering from the effects of complex trauma. After becoming CEO, Pond built a talented management team, further advancing JRI as an agency at the forefront of the social justice movement.

Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA) Honored Victim Rights Award Recipients

The Victim and Witness Assistance Board (VWAB) and the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA) presented Victim Rights Awards to victims, survivors, and providers who have made notable contributions to the victim services field.   Leaders, legislators, advocates, and survivors who work tirelessly to uphold and advance the rights of victims and survivors across the Commonwealth were honored on Monday, April 24th, 2023 at the Massachusetts State House Grand Staircase.

Douglas Brooks Joins JRI

We are thrilled to announce that Douglas M. Brooks, MSW, has joined the JRI Board of Trustees. This is homecoming of sorts, as JRI was where Douglas honed his leadership skills before he left to join the Obama White House as Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP).

Anchor Academy Student Spotlight

When students enroll at Anchor Academy, we look well beyond their past difficulties and struggles, and we are able to give each student a fresh start. This past week, we were reminded of this aspect of our school after receiving a visit from one of our recent graduates.

When Josh enrolled in Anchor Academy, his ultimate goal was to join the Marines. This past year, Josh achieved that goal.

Rachel has been a part of the JRI team since January, 2000. For over 20 years, Rachel has been working in the field of human services assisting families with accessing and navigating services. Rachel received her Bachelors degree in psychology and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Bridgewater State University. She was promoted in July 2005 to Family Networks Program Director where she closely worked with the Department of Children Families for 10 years ensuring that children and families received the highest quality of individualized services ranging from community based through residential care. Rachel is very dedicated to helping the individuals she works with and is committed to improving the lives of children and families. Rachel’s passion for creative service programming inspires her in her role as JRI Service Navigator.
