Meet Chief, the CAC's new service dog

In March of 2022, the CAC of Bristol County welcomed Chief, a nationally accredited service dog to our team. Chief was purchased by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and was trained by NEADS World Class Service Dogs, a nonprofit in Princeton, MA. Chief is named after a fallen U.S. soldier who fought in Iraq. He passed the Assistance Dogs International Public Access/Safety Test and is available to join children who request his presence in an interview due to his calm temperament and friendly approach.

Chief was featured in the media:

Where will your life long connection take you?

Greetings from Chicago.

Melanie Burke, Division Director at JRI met Guy in 2012 when he moved into the Rediscovery Group home where he resided for two and a half years. In 2015 when he turned 22, he aged out of DCF care and he remained connected to both Rediscovery and Mell over the years. Mell was an approved permanency/lifelong connection when he transitioned out of care.

Guy came into care at 2 years old, resided in a myriad of placements and despite many struggles over the years always maintained his goal of serving his country.

Data and research improve treatment of complex trauma

Few social service agencies are as committed as JRI to improving treatment through research and data.

In today’s episode of Justice in Action, we talk to Hilary Hodgdon, Research Director at Justice Resource Institute, and Lia Martin, Senior Associate Director of Quality Management. Together, they are part of a data and research division that is unusual among social service agencies for its size and scope.
