Preble Street recently joined The Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute in Massachusetts as the state lead for Maine in the New England Coalition Against Trafficking, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, and will be working with Maine partners as well as those in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island to develop and implement efforts to increase outreach, identification and service referral for victims of human trafficking across New England.
The Trauma-Sensitive Yoga program, which was developed by David Emerson at the Trauma Center at JRI, will be used to help prevent opioid addiction among women and children.
“This is not street level. This is social media. It’s all online. This is a friend of a friend, girls recruiting girls in their friend circles. It’s not street-level recruitment,” said Michelle Loranger, executive director of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County (CAC), a non-profit organization that has helped 4,600 children and their families who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or have witnessed violence, today celebrated its 10-year anniversary at an event attended by many state and local service agencies as well as elected officials and members of the law enforcement community.
Thirty Boston area graduates, who have overcome homelessness to receive their high school diploma, were honored on June 19th at Boston Public Library in a graduation celebration hosted by YouthHarbors.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County, a private, non-profit agency, provides services to children and intellectually disabled adults who have been victims of severe physical abuse, witness to violence or sexual abuse. Over 90% of all cases fall into the latter category.
