CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER OF BRISTOL COUNTY CELEBRATES 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County (CAC), a non-profit organization that has helped 4,600 children and their families who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or have witnessed violence, today celebrated its 10-year anniversary at an event attended by many state and local service agencies as well as elected officials and members of the law enforcement community.

First Connections

Our mission is to equip parents with tools, practical strategies, and connections to other families and their communities to foster healthy parenting and guide them through the first years of the parenting journey.

Bay Cove Academy

Bay Cove Academy is a small, therapeutic day school located in Brookline, Massachusetts serving adolescents, ages 12-22.  Approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education and nationally recognized by the US Department of Labor for its Career Development Program, the school provides a highly structured, learning environment for teens whose educational and social needs exceed those which traditional public and private schools can accommodate.

           

Yoga Can Help Girls Who Have Experienced Trauma

David Emerson, founder and director of yoga services at the Trauma Center at JRI, is quoted in this article.  

“The yoga forms may look similar to your average yoga studio, if you just looked at the class. But the way we’re interacting with the forms is quite different,” David Emerson, founder and director of yoga services for the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute in Massachusetts, told Healthline.

Rachel has been a part of the JRI team since January, 2000. For over 20 years, Rachel has been working in the field of human services assisting families with accessing and navigating services. Rachel received her Bachelors degree in psychology and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Bridgewater State University. She was promoted in July 2005 to Family Networks Program Director where she closely worked with the Department of Children Families for 10 years ensuring that children and families received the highest quality of individualized services ranging from community based through residential care. Rachel is very dedicated to helping the individuals she works with and is committed to improving the lives of children and families. Rachel’s passion for creative service programming inspires her in her role as JRI Service Navigator.
